FG SPARK makes borrowing easy for Nigerian youths

Now to all the have-nots pinching Opay, Moniepoint, and other payday loan sharks for money—chill and read this.

The federal government has launched SPARK, a USSD-based credit service you can use to access loans—loans you get, and still can go to sleep with both eyes closed. Then there’s the YouthCred Initiative, too, for Nigerians who can prove they are young.

“With SPARK, we have a simple way for Nigerians to begin building their credit histories. This is how we make credit work for the people.” said Uzoma Nwagaba, managing director, Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP). “” Consumer credit should not be a privilege reserved for a few.”

About 1000 Aba residents heard this while the corporation was creating awareness on SPARK recently in Abia.

To get all the cool stuff SPARK offers, you don’t need smartphones or internet connectivity. You don’t even have to flaunt years of credit history. Especially if you’re just dipping your toe in the pool.

CREDICORP is the only lender ready to lend anyone willing all they can get to buy gizmos like smartphones, laptops, tablets, generators, solar systems—and sustenance like food and drinks, clothes, and health care products.

The service will roll out soon. Its code *347*333# has been unveiled for accessing SPARK.

Well, CREDICORPS offers more than digital services, energy solutions, and life essentials. Mobility and home improvement come into the package, too. So you can get loans to buy cars from Nigeria’s automakers, including CNG powered rides.
