The Jonathan Kure panel investigating the death of 33 miners in Niger released the probe report October 28, revealing details on including the companies that own and run the mine on which the NSCDC arrested the miners.

With some of its findings now in the media, the report sheds more light on the train of events from the allegedly illegal operation on the mine to the arrests, detention, and death of the miners in the NSCDC custody.

Below are 4 facts emerging from the report on the mine and its ownership.

1) Three entities involved in the illegal mining operation are Ozams Consult and Services Ltd and Prixair Resources Ltd.

2) The companies belong to two families, including Banjo Demola, director-general, Niger State Mineral Resources. Demola is also a director in Prixair. Other directors are Banjo Oluwafeyitamilore and Banjo Oluwademilade. Members of the other family who have shareholding stakes in Ozams include Charles Ozoekwe and Uchenna Ozoekwe.

3) The companies deployed the young miners to the sites without notifying the mining marshals and the NSCDC.
